Nice to have you here. I’m Samuel, I live in Karlsruhe and I’m happiest outdoors – on the bike or with a camera. Here you’ll find photos from my travels, a few things that keep me busy, and at the end what I do for a living.

About

I used to fly gliders and paddle white water; these days I’m mostly out on the bike – often for several days with panniers, and usually with a podcast in my ears. The rest I listen to while doing housework: politics, the energy transition, spaceflight, history and good food.

My longest trip so far was one without the bike, though: in 2019/2020 I spent more than a year in Southeast Asia – in Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar and the Philippines. There I mostly photographed people at markets and in the streets; you’ll find many of these pictures in the gallery.

Still, a large part of my free time belongs to the computer. These days mostly to my homelab: I run my own mail, Git, VPN and this website, and maintain it all as code with DevOps and GitOps tools. Besides that I tinker with my 3D printer and small electronics projects.

For a living I build apps; what I’ve done there is under “Work”.
